The Artwork
There are deeper, hidden realities, and to discover them we need the help of the artist. The true function of seeing is to probe within and beyond perceptible reality. In this sense, one might say that Marx and Freud were more painters than Delacroix.
To assist us in this act of discovery, Sašo has constructed for us Breakthrough, a special device that offers a semblance of truth sufficient to grant our imagination that voluntary and momentary suspension of disbelief.

The artist
Born in Skopje, Republic of Macedonia, Sašo Sazdovski began his artistic training at the Secondary School of Applied Arts, specialising in sculpture, and continued at the Academy of Fine Arts, graduating in 2000. In 2006 he completed a Master’s degree in the Department of Sculpture. Since 2006 he has been a member of DLUM (Association of Macedonian Artists).
In addition to sculpture, he is passionate about graphic design and theatre, and currently teaches at the “Rade Jovceski Korcagin” Institute of Art in Skopje.
He has exhibited since 2000 both in his home country and internationally, frequently receiving awards and recognition. His works have been displayed in numerous museums and contemporary art galleries, including the Abu Dhabi Art Hub (United Arab Emirates), the Mark Rothko Art Centre (Latvia), the Heydar Aliyev Foundation (Baku, Azerbaijan), the Kalakshetra National Museum (India), the Al Asmakh Art Foundation (Doha, Qatar), the MECA Contemporary Art Centre (Almería, Spain), the 58th Venice Biennale at the Don Orione Artigianelli Cultural Centre, and the 14th Venice Architecture Biennale at Palazzo Albrizzi.
Sašo Sazdovski’s artistic research focuses primarily on the relationship between the infinity of space and time and our limited human existence. The abstract forms and monumental scale of his sculptures support this exploration, allowing the artist to develop a personal response to the great themes of existence.
What characterises life and the reality surrounding us is a constant flow of energy. It is this energy that connects us to infinity, and it is this energy that Sašo represents in the large geometric and abstract forms of his works.
In Breakthrough, the artist seeks to convey the strength of the bond between two extremities striving to connect. A tall pedestal emphasises the importance of building a bridge to overcome distance, while essential geometric lines define the dialogue between forms.
The unity and balance of opposites also appear in the artist’s more recent works, created by combining natural materials such as marble and granite with artificial materials like plastic and glass.
There are deeper and hidden realities, and to discover them we need the help of the artist. Indeed, the true function of the verb to see is to rummage in and out of perceivable reality, and in this sense one could say that Marx and Freud are more painters than Delacroix.
To help us in this work of discovery Saso has built for us "breaking through," a special machine that communicates to us a semblance of truth sufficient to procure, for our imagination, that voluntary and momentary, suspension of doubt.
