Clauzetto Marble

Itinerari nel Rojale

On 28 February 2024, the civic centre area was enhanced by the sculpture created by artist Stefano Sabetta during the 26th International Friuli Venezia Giulia Stone Sculpture Symposium.

The work was donated to ANFI (National Association of the Italian Financial Police) by the Municipality of Reana del Rojale and the cultural association Il Faro, in memory of three officers — Second Lieutenant Aldo Antonio Dal Moro, Brigadier Sereno Berini and Finance Officer Emanuele Bonino — brutally killed in August 1944, as recalled by the plaque placed at the base of the sculpture.

Crescere (To Grow)

The sculpture turns to the natural world, drawing inspiration from organic forms and capturing their passage in stone as an offering of permanence. Crescere (“To Grow”), the title itself, highlights this concept: it suggests transformation and change, while at the same time contrasting with the solidity and fixed temporality of the material.

The monumental sculpture, without a pedestal, rises sinuously upward. It seeks balance among the elements emerging from a single block, evoking circularity and the possibility of succession and renewal. The interplay of solids and voids engages in dialogue with space and light, while the treatment of surfaces — interior and exterior — contributes to a sculptural chromaticism defined by contrasts between fullness and emptiness.

The project found its ideal expression in Clauzetto marble, a material that Stefano appreciates for its strong personality: “one must get to know it,” he says, “and enter into harmony with it as with a living being.” — Francesca Agostinelli
